The reason Martinez failed so badly was because he didn't really say anything. The mud slinging we're used to, that didn't hurt either campaign. It was the typical vague political promises he made which contained no sustenance. The people who actually vote in District 14, all 15 thousand or so, are educated political activist. We want to hear what they plan to do, even if only to scrutinize it, it says something about the politician. Something we may actually get behind. But vagueness is essentially pompous bullshit.

There is something to be said though for my experience that day. I got up later then i usually do to go vote, and got there around noon. My particular voting location was only a few blocks from my home, however, it was a little difficult to location. Even though i knew exactly where to go, only because i grew up in this neighborhood, at least one other complained about the lack of obvious signage. There were a few arrows made of paper? that pointed the way. To which the person complaining as i left (and backed up) spent an hour driving around looking for the place.

After this i went around the neighborhood just walking because it was a nice day. There were a few news vans in the hood. channel 34 on first street in front of Un Solo Sol. And later around 4 or 5 there were children canvasing the neighborhood with Huizar ads.
